Stephen Plant

Stephen was appointed as the NET Business Development Manager in 2008, following a comprehensive review of the NET AM2/FICA assessment.  A fully trained JIB approved electrician, he has over 36 years’ experience in the electrical contracting and training fields. Formerly head of the electrical installation department of a Further Education college, Stephen has substantial experience in the training of both apprentices and mature operatives.  Since 2000 he has worked as Regional Education and Training Manager within the Education and Training department of the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA). Stephen holds a Teaching Certificate in Education and an MBA in Education Management.

 

 

 

 

 

Overview of role:

  • Principal contact point for the AM2/FICA UK test centre network of 44 NET licensed assessment
    centres
  • Technical liaison between NET Board & management internally and externally between the assessment
    centre network, NET and industry
  • Provision of expert support and guidance to the AM2/FICA centre network
  • Development of the network, monitoring visits and managing quality assurance
  • Oversaw the development and implementation of the updated AM2 assessment introduced in 2010
  • Working to launch a Hazardous Areas Interest Group with other interested industry groups
  • Working closely with SummitSkills, to develop NET’s activities in line with national frameworks
  • Project review manager for the full-scale review of the AM2/FICA assessment and relevant NET
    operations during 2006 & 2007
